Thanks to the new film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, the Hunger Games series is seeing a revival. This series of novels by Suzanne Collins about a dystopian future where rival districts send contestants to play a deadly game became a cultural phenomenon that helped launch Jennifer Lawrence's career after they were transformed into films. The new film, which is a prequel to the four movies released between 2012 and 2015, got BuzzFeed author Sarah Aspler curious about what would happen if the United States decided to start their own Hunger Games.

Turning to AI, Aspler created a set of tributes for each U.S. state and the results are fascinating. Hunger Games is known for the fantastical costumes they outfit their players in, each representing the characteristics of their respective district. And these looks are no different.

Some are hilariously based on food, such as Wisconsin's cheese-based look and Idaho's potato headpiece. Others play on nature, with Connecticut's contestants wearing costumes based on fall foliage and Washington's players outfitted in a lush green moss look inspired by the forest.

And, since this is AI, others play on obvious stereotypes. New Jersey's contestants look like they belong on Jersey Shore, while Colorado's pair is decked out as snow bunnies. But overall, there seems to be more variety than usual when it comes to the imagery that AI produces. There are different body types and more minority representation than one often sees.

And while some looks have quite obvious ties to the state they are based on, others have a more subtle approach. This makes this AI Hunger Games series even more enjoyable to look at, as you'll continue to see new details when examining the images. The red carpet is often a space for celebrities to present utmost glamour. And while this usually means high couture, it is also expected for women to show up with a full face of makeup. Recently, Pamela Anderson decided to subvert this assumption, attending upscale events with a makeup-free look. In doing so, the 56-year-old actress sent an inspiring message to women from all walks of life.

Her latest makeup-free appearance took place at the 2023 Fashion Awards Red Carpet, where she donned an an all-white ensemble with her hair pulled back in a ponytail. With these fashion choices, her natural look took center stage.

This comes a few months after Anderson debuted her no-makeup look at the high-stakes Paris Fashion Week. “I don't know, something just kind of came over me, and I was dressing in these beautiful clothes, and I thought, ‘I don't want to compete with the clothes. I'm not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room.' I feel like it's just freedom. It's a release,” she said in an interview with Vogue.

While going to that first event with no make up on made her a little uneasy, the feeling rapidly faded. “It felt a bit like jumping off a bridge, but I just smiled. And when I got home from the show, that’s when I decided I wanted to go makeup free the entire week,” she said. Her choice was then praised by other celebrities, like Jamie Lee Curtis, who wrote, “This woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion.”

As if challenging this wasn't tough on its own, Anderson is aware that her age would put extra scrutiny on her. “I feel as a woman and a woman of my age, and a woman in the public eye… it's also your job to be a model of everything. Just all sorts of choices. So I am just being me, kind of who I am, in all these great clothes running around Paris,” she added.

For all the constant messaging on social media about how women are supposed to look and  what they are expected to do to achieve that, Anderson's message is not only inspiring, but also liberating. “I know I wasn’t making strides toward world peace, but I was making a statement,” Anderson noted in an interview. “I just thought, ‘I’m doing this for all the girls out there.’ I’ve had stepdaughters in past relationships and my sons have girlfriends, and this was for them. In this day and age, do we even know what a face looks like anymore? This is it.”

Pamela Anderson has been challenging expectations by attending upscale events and red carpets with a makeup-free look.

Beyoncé's Renaissance film premiere brought together many luminaries. Among the A-listers in attendance were Taylor Swift and Blake Lively, who have been friends for many years. The pair decided to mark the event with a striking photograph that caught the attention of fans, the media, and even a couple of pranksters. One of the latter decided to give this image a funny twist, photoshopping the faces of the women’s respective partners—Travis Kelce and Ryan Reynolds—over theirs. Reynolds, no stranger to trolling his wife, saw an opportunity to poke some fun at her by sharing the altered version.

The original image was posted by Swift to Instagram among other shots taken by photographers Mason Poole and Kevin Mazur. In the picture, two friends embrace each other while sitting on a blue velvet couch, with Lively daringly placing her hand on Swift's thigh. The alluring photograph was then edited by a creator known as karthiknjartist. A long-time fan of Reynolds and the superhero franchises he has starred in, this is far from the first cheeky edit he has posted.

More so, karthiknjartist created other funny versions of Lively and Swift's image, including one starring Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and another one with Jason Momoa in Lively's place, who doesn't look entirely out of place given his long, luscious hair.  Yet the version that caught Reynolds' eye was the one starring him and his friend's football beau. He then posted it to his Instagram story with the caption: “I feel like I should remember this.”

Reynolds and Lively are longtime friends of Swift, with Lively even directing a music video for the singer. There is also speculation about Swift joining Reynolds on Deadpool 3 as the character Dazzler. And while Kelce is relatively new to the friend group, he is known for displaying his sense of humor on New Heights, the podcast he hosts with his brother Jason. With a little luck, we may soon see a funny image of this caliber starring the two men, no Photoshop needed.

Nearly 50 years after the film Rocky was released in theaters, the inspiring story of an underdog boxer continues to captivate audiences. Sylvester Stallone, who both wrote the movie and starred as the lead, recently returned to Philadelphia, the city in which the film took place. He arrived on December 3, a day that is now dubbed “Rocky Day,” marking the 47th anniversary of the movie's release.

A special ceremony was held near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, at the top of the stairs that Rocky climbs in the film. There is a statue of the character which honors the location, and a newly opened Rocky Shop. An excited crowd joined Stallone, with many people dressing in costumes based on the film. “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart—and Rocky's, too, because we're very close,” Stallone said to the audience. “To all of you, who, believe it or not, are the real-life Rockys, because you live your life on your own terms, you try to do the best you can, and you keep punching.”

Holding the event at the top of the “Rocky Steps” was significant for the role it played in the film. Rocky's iconic spring to the museum is a scene that resonates with many, including Stallone. Prior to the film, he was a struggling writer in need of a break. In a gutsy move, he was able to negotiate a lead role for himself, and ended up living Rocky's dreams. “You get to the top, you feel inspired, you feel special, hopeful, happy, and most of all, proud of yourself,” the 77-year-0ld actor said. “The real victory is in never giving up and going the distance for yourself, your loved ones, and standing at the top of these steps you're reminded that all things are possible. Keep punching.” Stallone closed his speech by cutting the ribbon to the Rocky Shop gift store and taking photos with some fans.

On December 3 (aka “Rocky Day”), actor Sylvester Stallone received a key to Philadelphia in honor of the 47th anniversary of Rocky.

Classical music sometimes seems worlds away from more contemporary genres. And yet, it is all connected. Grammy Award winner Jon Batiste is keenly aware of this, having received training in both classical and jazz training, as well as having experimented with pop and rock in his latest albums. When asked in an interview about breaking musical barriers, he took to the piano, and let the first notes from Beethoven's “Für Elise” do the explaining.

Batiste appeared on the fourth season of Who’s Talking with Chris Wallace?, a show where the newscaster interviews some of the biggest names in news and entertainment. With the composer sitting by the piano and the journalist observing from the side, Wallace asks Batiste to show him how to go from one genre to another. Batiste laughs with excitement before saying “Yeah, of course. We were just messing around. Being that we were at Julliard, you know? Beethoven, you know?”

The composer then begins to play the world famous “Für Elise,” as Wallace looks with a big smile on his face. His pristine and effortless interpretation brings back to life the tune the way it was written in the 19th century.”But you know, the blues,” says Batiste, before going into the first notes of “Für Elise,” but playing with the surrounding keys with the appropriate notes and speed to make it sound like a blues song written a hundred years later in the southern U.S.

Batiste experiments without missing a beat, and having proved his point, he switches to yet another genre. “And gospel,” he announces. The transition is once again smooth and seamless. Experimenting with the notes, the music comes naturally to Batiste. The musician then laughs with excitement, channeling the charming energy of the notes he just played. Dumbfounded and almost hypnotized, Wallace simply exclaims, “That is amazing.”

The Home Alone movies, starring Macaulay Culkin, are iconic holiday films. And as fun as Kevin McCallister's shenanigans are, nothing beats the sweet reunions between the boy and his desperate mother, played by Catherine O'Hara, at the end. Now, the two actors recently reunited at Culkin's Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony, having an encounter as emotional as those in the movies.

O'Hara honored Culkin with a speech, reflecting on Culkin's legacy ever since the film was released. “Home Alone was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation…the reason families all over the world can't let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin,” she said.

“It is Macaulay’s perfect performance as Kevin McAllister that gave us that little every-boy on an extraordinary adventure,” O'Hara said. “I know you worked really hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do.”

Looking back at how the young Culkin, who filmed Home Alone before turning 10, dealt with work and fame, O'Hara credited his sense of humor. “It’s a sign of intelligence in a child, and a key to surviving life at any age,” his co-star pointed out. “From what I see, you have brought that sense of sweet, yet twisted, yet totally relatable sense of humor to everything that you have chosen to do since Home Alone.”

O'Hara finished her speech up by congratulating Culkin, saying that he deserved his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion. I'm so proud of you.” Culkin, who was standing beside her, quickly turned to embrace O'Hara while he wiped away tears from his face.

The actor, who was joined by his sons and his partner, Brenda Song, took to the podium to thank O'Hara and other guests for their kind words. “You know, you made my kids' dad, their papa, look good. And the most important thing to me is also that their papa understands that he wasn't always his papa; he used to be a kid too, you know?” he said before sending everyone off with a world-famous phrase. “To wrap things up, and in the spirit of the holiday season, I just wanna say Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.”

This year, Thanksgiving came with an extra side of sparkle, all thanks to Dolly Parton. The country superstar took the stage for the halftime show at the Thanksgiving football match between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders. With this dazzling performance, Parton kicked off the 133rd annual Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Paying tribute to the home team, which ended up winning 45-10, Parton donned a Cowboys' cheerleader uniform, complete with a white vest with blue stars, a low-cut blue crop top, and white shorts. While the outfit created the illusion of a bare midriff and legs for days, the singer was actually wearing a bedazzled mesh over her midsection, which featured a large star over her belly button.

Parton kicked off the halftime show with her hit “Jolene,” before moving on to “9 to 5.” To round up the performance with a sports-ready anthem, she sang a mashup of two of Queen's songs, “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You”—a combo she recently covered for her debut rock album, Rockstar.

For the singer, this wasn't just any performance—it was also a chance to spotlight a cause near and dear to her heart. “Those Red Kettles have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors who are facing hard times,” Parton said upon being announced as the halftime performer. “My goal is to encourage everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps, and together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”

When planning their next musical endeavor, a Toronto-based choir shot for the stars. In a heartwarming twist of fate, one music star answered back. Choir! Choir! Choir! has long covered famous pop and rock songs, even earning nods from their original performers. So when the time came to cover “Never Gonna Give You Up,” they thought it wouldn't hurt to ask Rick Astley to join them, but they hardly expected the singer to actually show up.

“Hey Rick Astley, we want you to come and sing with us. We will sing with you,” founder Daveed Goldman says at the start of a video, pleading in front of the entire choir. “We love your music, we celebrate music, and you have some wicked songs, man. So come and sing with us.”

Much to their delight, the singer took up their challenge during one of his North American tours. “HE SHOWED UP two weeks later!!” Choir! Choir! Choir! wrote.”It was even more incredible than we could have expected. Rick looks and sounds better than ever.” Astley led the crowd for a soaring rendition of “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The singer couldn't help but smile at the choir taking his hit song to a new level. Thrilled by the experience, he then challenged Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters to get himself to that basement in Toronto to sing with the excited vocalists.

While best known for “Never Gonna Give You Up,” Astley has continued to put out new music. His latest album, Are We There Yet? was released in October, and will have him touring the UK next year.
