There are few cameras as iconic as a Polaroid. Snapping a photo and receiving the physical copy in moments is a special experience that is hard to replace. Now, photography lovers can recreate this vintage model through LEGO and fall in love with the camera all over again.

By putting together the bricks of this 516-piece set inspired by the Polaroid OneStep SX-70 model (originally released by Polaroid in 1972), users can make their own replica. The set includes many of the beloved details associated with the Polaroid Land camera, like the white front and rainbow stripe. The toy version even possesses functional features that make it feel like the real thing, including a viewfinder that users can peer into, and a movable exposure compensation dial.

The set also comes with the pieces necessary to construct a Polaroid film pack, where you can store three “photos” illustrated in the LEGO style. Among them is a LEGO-fied portrait of Polaroid co-founder and inventor of the Polaroid Land camera, Edwin H. Land. These photos can be loaded into the LEGO camera so that when you press the red button, they eject just as a real photo would, sparking joy for anyone who loves photography and LEGO.

You can pre-order this set for $79.99 via LEGO's online store, with orders shipping out January 1, 2024.

LEGO has released a new set that can be built into a Polaroid Land camera.

The 516 bricks can be constructed into a OneStep SX-70 model, originally released by Polaroid in 1972.

The LEGO camera functions like a real camera, with a viewfinder and movable exposure compensation dial.

The set also includes three illustrated photos, one of which depicts cofounder of Polaroid and inventor of the Land camera, Edwin H. Land.

These Polaroids can be loaded into the camera, and after you press the red button, they are ejected like real photos.

Usually, the goal of a LEGO set is to create one structure or design. However, a new release gives users the option to construct three different objects from the same pieces. The LEGO Creator Retro Camera comes with 261 bricks that can be recombined to create a vintage-style camera (with film), a camcorder, or even a TV.

Photography enthusiasts are sure to get a kick out of the realistic 35mm film SLR camera design. It includes a large movable lens, and can even be loaded with LEGO film, and accessorized with a rainbow LEGO-printed wrist strap. The provided LEGO film rolls already have special moments captured, like a safari bus, a giraffe, and butterflies.

When users are done enjoying the retro camera, they can then take apart the object and repurpose the pieces into a something new. The same bricks can help builders make a camcorder with an articulating screen or a charming vintage television that has antennas at the top.

This set will be available for purchase for $19.99 via LEGO's website starting January 1, 2024.

For many years, the Orient Express was a symbol of luxurious travel, connecting Europe with Istanbul. Known as a “rolling palace,” the train ran for the first time in 1883, and finally disappeared from timetables in 2009, having cut cities from its route over the last few decades. Now, in celebration of its 140th anniversary, LEGO has paid tribute to this icon of old-time wanderlust with a 2,540-piece Orient Express set.

The highly detailed model gives a LEGO twist to some of the most celebrated features from the train, like the main locomotive, tender, and dining and sleeping cars. The removable roofs allow you to marvel at its intricate interiors, which feature decorations from the train’s original route, such as the inlaid wood panels and “cut-glass” mirrors.

The Orient Express wouldn't hold such legendary status without those who made sure it ran smoothly. That's why the set also comes with eight new minifigures, including its trusty conductor, chef, staff, and a group of opulent passengers. This model was also made with LEGO locomotive fans in mind, as it includes new elements for coupling rods, whistle, and funnel. Additionally, it is compatible with the LEGO track system.

The LEGO Orient Express set was designed by Parisian film director Thomas Lajon, who first pitched it on the LEGO Ideas platform. There, users can upload their own creations and, if their design gets 10,000 votes from users, it can be reviewed by a board and considered for production.

This model marries two of Lajon's biggest passions—trains and LEGO Bricks. After his girlfriend nudged him to get back in touch with these building blocks and encouraged him to build a train. “Obviously, I chose to make the Orient Express, a sumptuous French train, at the heart of many stories,” he said. “If I could travel back in time and could afford a ticket, I would take the Orient Express (before continuing with a crossing on a transatlantic liner). What a time!”

Mariah Carey has become almost synonymous with Christmas ever since her hit “All I Want for Christmas is You” hit the airwaves. While Carey has rocked many festive outfits throughout the years, the designers have chosen one of her most iconic ensembles for her doll version. The Mariah Carey Barbie Doll dons a sparkly red gown, similar to the one she wore for the second music video, released in 2019 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the beloved holiday song. Her look includes her long wavy hair, famous butterfly ring, long silver earrings, and a matching microphone.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime dream to have my own Barbie! If I could go back and tell my little girl self that one day, I would have a Barbie made in my likeness, I think she would flip out,” Carey gushed in a statement released by Mattel. “I hope all collectors and fans everywhere enjoy the holiday season and hopefully the Mariah Barbie will be a wonderful addition to it.”

After 2023's wildly successfully Barbie movie, it's more obvious than ever that Barbie is more than just a plastic doll. She embodies the dreams of young girls and has for decades been a vehicle for imagining a bright future. Barbie—owned by the Mattel brand—has become increasingly representative in recent years, aiming to diversify its dolls' skin tones, hair textures, and body types. The brand is also adding more diverse storylines to its collection, including the Inspiring Women series with the likes of Rosa Parks, Jane Goodall, and Bessie Coleman. The newest addition recognizes Wilma Mankiller, the first female Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, by recreating the iconic leader as a Barbie.

Mankiller—who has also recently been immortalized on a U.S. quarter—was born in 1945 in Oklahoma. A member of the Cherokee Nation, she moved as a child to California as part of a government program that was aimed at urbanizing Indigenous populations with devastating results for reservation land and communities. Her activism for women and the Indigenous community began during her early career as a social worker in California before Mankiller eventually returned home to the Cherokee Nation.

In her community, Mankiller was a tireless advocate. She founded the Community Development Department to improve housing and water access (which to this day is a struggle for many on reservations). In 1985, she was elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, the first woman to serve in the position. She led the sovereign nation boldly, contributing to declines in infant mortality rates and promoting educational achievement, among many other accomplishments. She left office in 1995, but continued her activism until her death in 2010. She was inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame in 1993 and bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1998.

Mattel's rendition of Mankiller is based on a photograph her husband took of her in 2005, outfit and all. She wears a ribbon dress with four colors representing the four compass directions. Her estate and representatives of the Cherokee Nation contributed their thoughts in the design process. Her husband, Charlie Sopa, said, “I am deeply honored Mattel is recognizing Wilma with the Wilma Mankiller doll. Wilma inspired me and many others to make the world a better place. As her community development partner for over 30 years, we shared a passion for empowering Indian communities and educating future generations.”

“When Native girls see it, they can achieve it, and Wilma Mankiller has shown countless young women to be fearless and speak up for Indigenous and Human rights,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. “She not only served in a role dominated by men during a time that tribal nations were suppressed, but she led. Wilma Mankiller is a champion for the Cherokee Nation, for Indian Country and even my own daughter.”

One of the most exciting parts of the holiday season is opening presents on Christmas morning. But if you (or someone you know) can't wait that long, advent calendars offer a more expedited alternative. For this holiday season, LEGO has put together six limited-edition advent calendars. Among the 2023 models is a Star Wars set, an Avengers advent calendar, and a Harry Potter set that could easily double as a Christmas village. The featured franchises are given a Christmas twist, with beloved characters donning holiday outfits and their iconic sets being transformed with holiday decorations. Additionally, there's a LEGO City Advent Calendar starring Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus themselves.

The Star Wars set sees characters from all of the movies and TV shows coming together for a cheerful celebration—Emperor Palpatine holds a warm drink as he chats with Princess Leia. Meanwhile, a clone trooper and battle droid have a snow fight as an Ewok gets ready to take to the skies.

In the Avengers advent calendar, the super heroes are back at Stark Tower for a Christmas party. Spider-Man happily dons a holiday sweater, maybe hoping that his friends will join him by the fireplace. On top of some beloved characters like Doctor Strange and Captain America, the mini builds feature iconic elements such as the Quinjet and the Hydra Train.

Meanwhile, the Harry Potter set takes fans right back to the charming town of Hogsmeade. MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a valuable and versatile medical resource. By using strong magnetic fields and radio waves, an MRI can produce detailed images of the inside of a body. However, it can be a daunting procedure for some, especially children. Not only do patients have to lay flat inside the tunnel of the scanner for a while, but the machine is also known for emitting loud tapping noises. In an effort to make it easier for kids undergoing an MRI scan, LEGO created toy sets of an MRI scanner to help alleviate their fears.

Created with children in mind, the LEGO MRI scanner can be used by radiologists to walk children through the process before the actual procedure. By providing a safe “practicing space” through something familiar like a LEGO set, stress and anxiety can be greatly reduced.

The LEGO MRI scanners began as passion project for LEGO employee Erik Ullerlund Staehr and Odense University Hospital, Denmark in 2015. Since their first prototype, the staff reports that over 200 children aged 4 to 9 have had their concerns addressed and relieved every year. Almost simultaneously, medical staff in the U.S. and Belgium came up with their own LEGO MRI scanners. Now, they've all joined forces with the LEGO Foundation to develop this model and help it reach more places.

“MRI Scanners are huge machines,” says Ulla Jensen from the Department of Radiology at Odense University Hospital Denmark, which collaborated with the LEGO Group when creating this set. “They also make a lot of noise which can be very daunting for children. Our team have found that use of models such as the LEGO model has led to more positive, calm experiences for many children. This benefits the child, their family, and also the quality of the MRI scan, which relies on the person being very still for up to an hour to work.”

Hoping to help as many children as possible, LEGO donated 600 LEGO MRI scanners to hospitals around the world. These models were then built by volunteers and shipped for free. Since the response to this project was overwhelmingly positive, LEGO will now work closely with those hospitals that were assigned a LEGO MRI scanner to integrate their feedback and ideas to any future designs.

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Toad may be the heroes in Super Mario Bros., but the games would be nothing without its villains. This includes the iconic Piranha Plant lurking out of a green pipe. Rather than throwing a fireball at them, this time LEGO invites you to actually build one. As part of their ever-growing Super Mario collection, LEGO has announced a Piranha Plant set for fans to recreate the omnipresent enemy from the game.

The 540-piece LEGO Piranha Plant set relies on the geometric nature of LEGO blocks to give the flower its pixelated look. Since the iconic green pipes have come to double as a pot for these deadly characters, the LEGO version of the Piranha Plant is displayed in a buildable pipe, which you start working on from the bottom up. When finished, it measures 9 inches (23 cm) high, 4.5 inches (11 cm) wide and 6.5 inches (17 cm) deep, so feel free to turn it into a centerpiece or trade it for your old flower vase for a fun touch. It was designed to be displayed.

The best part of the LEGO Piranha Plant is that it is fully posable. Its clever design allows fans to move the head, mouth, stalk and leaves to create fun poses. “When designing the Piranha Plant, it felt important to capture its distinctive features and ensure that the set could be positioned in a way that reflects its iconic poses,” says senior designer Carl Merriam. “I’m so proud of the finished result, from the mouth to the leaves and stalk, we’ve managed to perfectly portray the menacing essence of the Piranha Plant!”

As if that wasn't enough, you get a really nice reward for your work, as the set also includes two coin elements.
