Cultural Center in China Has Roof Inspired by the Shape of Bamboo Leaves

With a roof inspired by the shape of bamboo leaves, the Anji Culture and Art Center will house six different venues, including a theater, sports center, and art education center. Designed by MAD Architects, the sleek buildings fan out into the surrounding green tea fields that are unique to the area. Anji is located close to Shanghai and won the United Nations Habitat Award.

Community Bands Together To Restore Crumbling 19th-Century Synagogue in NYC

From the time it opened in 1887, Manhattan's Eldridge Street Synagogue was a thriving place of worship for the local community. Located in Chinatown, it was one of the first synagogues erected by the Eastern European Jews in the United States. But after 50 years of bustling activity, it slowly fell into disrepair before being “rediscovered” in the 1980s and lovingly brought back to its former glory.

Macau's Hollywood-inspired Studio City resort opened its doors in 2015 and was so successful that it hired Zaha Hadid Architects for an expansion. Now, one of two hotels planned during Phase Two has opened to the public. Inspired by the rich detailing and bold geometries of the Art Deco era, the W Macau is a 557-room luxury hotel.
